To get through these lean times, we've cut our budgets by 25% in 2009 and plan to carry over some monies into 2010 to keep our program vital. We've also worked hard to leverage your assessment dollars and collected $190,400 this year in grants, project partnerships and other outside income totaling 30% of our budget this year. We believe it is important to maintain level of programs that preserves your past investment, continues to be effective and sets the stage for future programs that will pay the greatest dividends. To meet our responsibilities, our strategy for 2009-2011 is to stay on task and weather the economic challenges by making our program more efficient, more effective and more focused.

We've taken actions to meet the following goals for 2009-2011:
  • Fine-tune our priorities based on strategic planning and polling data
  • Identify and prioritize key audiences to reach
  • Review media delivery and use the most efficient and cost effective methods to reach key audiences such as radio and billboards
  • Prioritize and carefully define messages based on current issues and dovetailed with polling results
  • Closely monitor costs to make every cent count and expand our resources through outsourcing, collaborations and partnerships with other organizations and leveraging existing assets or industry groups
  • Involve industry stakeholders
  • Use forest tours and other opportunities to get educators, kids and others in the woods
  • Increase Project Learning Tree use in Idaho
  • Provide timely and accurate information on key issues
  • Use events as a tool to educate about key issues
