DESCRIPTION:Help bring forest and environmental education to Idaho students.\nTree Talkers are forest professionals who represent the Idaho Forest Products Commission (IFPC) and Project Learning Tree (PLT) by leading classroom presentations and educational outreach using engaging\, hands-on PLT activities. This three-session virtual training will prepare you to confidently facilitate environmental and forest education activities with K-12 students and educators and become part of a statewide network of professionals working to build forest literacy. \nWorkshop Outcomes\n\nGain hands-on experience with Project Learning Tree activities and develop practical facilitation techniques for engaging K-12 students. \nConnect with other forest and natural resource professionals participating in the Tree Talker program. Build relationships\, share ideas\, and become part of a statewide community of forest literacy ambassadors.\nDevelop the skills and confidence to bring meaningful forest education experiences to Idaho students. SUMMARY:Virtual Workshop for PLT Facilitators
DESCRIPTION:Help bring hands-on environmental education to educators in your community.\nPLT Facilitators lead professional development workshops that help educators use PLT’s hands-on environmental education curriculum in their classrooms and communities. Facilitators share local knowledge and place-based connections\, model hands-on\, experiential teaching strategies\, help educators connect PLT activities to their students\, communities\, and local environments\, build relationships with educators and other environmental and natural resource professionals\, and help expand access to PLT professional development across Idaho. \nWho Should Participate?\nThis training is intended for individuals who have previously attended a PLT workshop. Potential facilitators may include teachers\, non-formal educators\, natural resource professionals\, extension professionals\, nonprofit and community organization staff\, and other individuals interested in environmental education and professional development. You do not need previous experience leading professional development.  \nFacilitator Training\nThis three-part virtual training series will prepare you to begin leading PLT professional development in your community. The training will be interactive and practical\, with opportunities to experience PLT activities\, practice facilitation skills\, learn from other participants\, and begin planning your own PLT workshop. \nYou will learn how to: \n\nFacilitate hands-on PLT activities with adult learners\nCreate an engaging and welcoming workshop environment\nUse questioning\, discussion\, reflection\, and other facilitation techniques\nConnect PLT activities to local places\, issues\, and community interests\nAdapt workshops for different audiences and settings\nPlan and prepare for a successful PLT workshop\nAccess PLT resources and support as a facilitator\n\nThis training also supports the Framework for Teaching\, specifically Domain 4e: Growing and Developing Professionally \nBefore You Register\nPlease review the PLT Facilitator Requirements before registering.
